Being a professional singer could mean anything from singing Rock, Pop, and Reggae, Country and Western, gospel, classical, opera and folk music. Singers may be employed to entertain in clubs, restaurants, bars and parties, and to sing in musical productions and operas. Some singers play with bands, many solo and some become backing vocalists. If you would like to become a singer you either work alone or have an agent either way, it is a good idea to become a member of a professional music association or union.

Many people are successful singers without having any training or qualifications.
