Study and Career History
I was singing in a band at the age of 13, was then a triple winner of Opportunity Knocks and after that appeared in Lex McCleans variety show on Scottish TV for 2 years as the star act performing my own songs that my father wrote for me. At 22 I starred in the film "Never Mind the Quality Feel the Width " as Rita and had 2 albums out "Ukele Girl" and "The Wendy Experience". I also appeared in the Golden Shot as Maid of the Month and hosted Mr Trimble a children's programme. As well as all this I have performed all over the world entertaining people on cruses, at weddings, in the Israeli army and in clubs all my life. I am a singer and entertainer and that has been my life!

How long have you been doing the job?
45 years.

Did you decide on your career path or did it all happen by accident?
I was born singing ! Its all I ever wanted to do and my father was a song writer and comedian and my mother a dancer so I guess it came naturally.

How did you get your "Glamour Job" ?
I had the talent and went for it.

What does the job involve?
Entertaining people and making them smile and have a good time.

Describe a typical day at work.
Every show I do is different, so there is no typical day. I have had some fantastic experiences and others not so great! You need a lot of energy to get up there and perform so its very tiring but fantastic at the same time.

What do you like most about the job?
The buzz I get from being on the stage and performing, there is nothing like it especially when you have a good audience.

What don’t you like about your job – if anything?
An audience that doesn't clap!

During your teenage years did you have much vocational guidance from school, university, family or friends? What was your biggest influence?
I left school very young. It was my mother and father that influenced me the most.

If you took end of school examinations did you get exam results you were happy with from your education?
I left school at about 15 because I was in a band performing .

Do you think that what you studied in school or in your further education was right for the career you are in now? Any regrets?
I wasn't interested in school. Only in singing and sports I was a very good runner and ran for Yorkshire!

Have you taken further studies since leaving secondary or tertiary school. If yes, what did you study and why did you decide you needed more qualifications?
No

What was your first job?
Singing in a band.

What has been your most bizarre or challenging job to date?
Performing for the Israeli Army.

What is your ultimate goal.... is this it, or do you have a pinnacle you have yet to reach?
I think I reached my pinnacle before I got married when I was about 30.

What are your top tips for personal success?
Believe in yourself and don't let anything get in your way. Just go for it.
