4ZZZ is a community radio station that is seeking an energetic person with fresh ideas to manage the Station. The station focuses on creative and diverse programming for listeners within the South East Queensland region. The station promotes local and/or independent culture throughout South East Queensland. The station has a variety of special interest and marginalized communities who support the station and who are also involved in the station in various capacities.
4ZZZ is managed by a Board of Directors. 4ZZZ has more than 100 volunteers as well as a few permanent paid staff members that contribute to the station. The station has an existing membership and listenership that will continue to grow as the station grows.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: The General Manager is to ensure the day to day management of 4ZZZ, from the physical state of the company’s broadcast facilities, to ensuring that daily operations run efficiently. To achieve these goals, the General Manager is responsible to ensure the financial security of the station, as well as to provide a safe and secure environment in which 4ZZZ staff (paid and volunteers) can operate.
The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors.
Key Result Areas –
1. Manage workflow with changing priorities
2. Delivery of material to deadline
3. Maintain and archive to 4ZZZ’s quality standards
4. Create and consolidate working relationships across all broadcast and sales departments
5. Communicate effectively across the industry
6. Provide material in a host of formats
7. Recommend solutions to technical problems
Major Tasks -
1. Improvement and management of the workspace (building and staff)
2. Management of finances in conjunction with the Board of Directors
3. Developing business opportunities and risk management.
The Salary is approximately $40K including superannuation and entitlements. This is negotiable.
Selection Criteria –
1. Demonstrated capacity to manage and coordinate a workplace and staff as well as administrative and organisational skills at an accomplished level.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Well developed written skills and the ability to write and negotiate funding grants.
4. Experience in business development, promotion and/or fundraising is preferred.
5. Well developed computer skills and strong familiarity with office based software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Dreamweaver or basic HTML skills would be an advantage but not essential.
6. Preferred experience (but not essential) in the community sector and commitment to community radio ethics and values. |
